THE REVEREND DR. MARVIN C. ZANDERS, II
"For thus says the Lord: Only when Babylon’s seventy years are completed will I visit you, and I will fulfill to you my promise and bring you back to this place. For surely I know the plans I have for you, says the Lord, plans for your welfare and not for harm, to give you a future with hope."
- Jeremiah 29:10-11(NRSV)
Dear Family and Friends:
The cliché that hindsight is 20/20 is often quoted. It’s naturally easier for most to believe either the things they see or have seen. Remembering the glory days and reflecting on the “hay days” of our lives is done consistently at strategic times – New Year's, birthdays, and/or retirements. But I contend that the power of the dream is far greater than the nostalgia of our memories. It’s in the dream that there are limitless possibilities. In my assessment, a dream is merely a thought, idea or goal that may seem unattainable, yet when rooted in faith and coupled with God’s power, it is possible.
In Jeremiah 29:10-11 God reminds His people that their lives are planned by Him. That means that nothing is coincidental; there are no events that happen as mishaps. We continue to commemorate the life of “a dreamer” who through God’s infinite guidance was shown a plan of what could be for an entire nation. We celebrated our first Bishop, Richard Allen, in July. Rooted in faith, he had a vision for worship that has been perpetual for 200 years of African Methodism. What is it that God has shown you about your circumstance? What do you believe He will do in your life this year? According to the power that works within us, God is able to not only fulfill our dreams, but to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think!
Pray to see the vision of God for your life and then believe God as the “dream fulfiller” that He is. His will be done in your life is my prayer.
Yours in Christ,
Marvin C. Zanders II
