THE REVEREND DR. MARVIN C. ZANDERS, II

IT’S ALL IN OUR GIVING
"For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

- John 3:16 KJV

Dear Family and Friends:

Pop culture would have us believe that Christmas is about toys, extravagance, and a gift-giver in a red velvet suit navigating a reindeer-led sleigh through the skies.  In fact, the commercialization of this most sacred season has completely misrepresented what the true meaning of Christmas is really about.  Every aspect of the Christmas story clearly shows us the posture we should have in our daily lives. It is through God’s infinite wisdom and His divine plan that He demonstrates that Christmas is about giving.

The birth of Jesus, recounted in both the gospels of Matthew and Luke illustrates that God gave His son to save a lost and dying world.  His intentions were clear; because of His love for us He gave!  Further analysis shows what trust and love will lead one to do.  A mother, Mary, was willing to give herself.  A future husband, Joseph, was willing to give up his pride for his family.

As we celebrate the beauty of Christmas and rejoice in the salvation plan that God brought to the entire world, let us examine our own levels of trust so that we too can “fear not” and give generously to the work of God’s Kingdom.  Centuries ago Mary, Joseph, and even the wise men gave their very best!  Today, we also have the awesome privilege of giving.  Our gifts are priceless treasures of time, talents and most importantly our treasures.

May the love of God and His sacrificial spirit of giving permeate your hearts and minds.

A Blessed Christmas for each of you is my prayer.

Yours in Christ,
Marvin C. Zanders, II
