BELIEVE WHAT HE SAYS
"The Jews therefore said, forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou raise it up in three days? But he spake of the temple of his body. When therefore he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered that he spake this; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said."
- John 2:14-22 ASV
Dear Family and Friends:
Jesus’ disciples were an integral part of His ministry. Not only were they witnesses to the wondrous works of Christ, but they were afforded opportunities to be taught by Him, the “Master Teacher.” With metaphorical lessons spoken as parables, the Scripture continuously shows how the disciplines were confused about what Jesus revealed to them. In the verse above it wasn’t until Jesus was raised from the dead that the disciples remembered and believed what He said to them.
Like them we fail to understand what He says in regard to our lives, we are perplexed by the promises He whispers to us daily, and we even doubt the discernment He plants in our spirit. Jesus illustrated how He would be betrayed, denied, crucified, put to death, buried and resurrected countless times before the actual events took place. And yet, only after they received an angelic message, heard from Mary, and saw an empty tomb did Jesus’ prophetic words start to make sense to them.
I often wonder how much it will take for us to take Jesus at his word. When we think of all He’s done for us and everything that He can do, why should we doubt or worry? During this Resurrection Celebration, I implore each of you to meditate on the pattern of our God. Become completely aware of the fact that He loves us so much that He will always make provisions for our lives. Let the power of His planning permeate your being, knowing that your steps are ordered. Come into full relationship with His Son, Jesus Christ, who paid our sin debt in full and reconciles us with the Father.
There’s an old adage that says, “seeing is believing.” For us, believing is seeing! Take Him at his word, believe what He says and watch your life change. God’s best for you is my prayer.
Yours in Christ,
Marvin C. Zanders, II
